Often times the answers to our problems can be found through looking at the issue with a fresh set of eyes and a different perspective. “Boxed In” was the solution to the long term question of what my thesis was about in undergraduate studies. At first the birds had very little cohesion on their own but the boxes provided a play on the idea of being boxed in—and yet it provided a way of escape, an opening I needed in trying time. The idea of putting the birds in boxes unified the pieces together while expressing the idea of being trapped or boxed in. Hence the name of the piece.
As it stands right now, most of the pieces in this body of work have been purchased and are on display at the Mobile Botanical Gardens in Mobile, Alabama. Currently, I only have photos of the pieces I did not sell. As of right now I’m not sure if selling the remaining is something I want to do. However, if you’re serious and interested I will be happy to discuss a price.
